In earlier of 1990s, a young Vietnamese woman, Tran thi Lanh coordinated a group of students at her PHD department in Hanoi University, later became one of NGOs in January 1994 inVietnam. On the basis of her admiration for the ethnic minority women whom she had met during an extensive journey of discovery over 16 different provinces of Vietnam, she called her NGO ‘Toward Ethnic Women’.
